  1. Dimensions must be clearly noted in inches on the ORIGINAL Bill of Lading.
    1. Corrected Bills of Lading for the purposes of providing or amending the shipment dimensions will not be accepted.
  2. If the dimensions are not listed on the original bill of lading, dimensional weight will be calculated by equating the description of the freight to an appropriate NMFC class.
    1. For shipments consisting entirely of classes 50-65, the actual weight of the shipment will be used for rating purposes.
    2. For shipments consisting of classes 70-500, pounds per cubic foot (PCF) will be calculated using the NMFC class and the table below.
CLASS PCF CLASS PCF CLASS PCF
      Class 70 15 PCF Class 110 7 PCF Class 250 2 PCF
      Class 77.5 13 PCF Class 125 6 PCF Class 300 1 PCF
      Class 85 12 PCF Class 150 5 PCF Class 400 1 PCF
      Class 92.5 10 PCF Class 175 4 PCF Class 500 1 PCF
      Class 100 8 PCF Class 200 3 PCF
    3. For shipments consisting of multiple classes, the highest class represented will be used to calculate the dimensional weight.
    4. The actual weight of the shipment will be divided by the applicable pounds per cubic foot, and rounded UP, to determine total shipment cube (in feet).
      Example: A shipment, 1000 lbs, class 200 = 1000 / 3 = 333 cubic feet
  3. Carrier’s dimensions, if any, will take precedence over the dimensions listed on the original Bill of Lading. Carrier’s dimensions are defined as measurements collected by FedEx Freight personnel.
  4. The actual weight of the shipment must be stated in pounds on the original Bill of Lading.
  5. Dimensional weight in pounds is calculated by multiplying the total cubic feet of the shipment by 1728 then dividing by the dimensional weight factor.
  6. Chargeable Weight will be the GREATER of the actual weight or the dimensional weight.
  7. Unless otherwise provided, the following dimensional weight factors will be utilized.

    SP1 7/1/2010 194 dim factor
