Printer-Friendly Other Changes
The following surcharge changes took effect January 5, 2009, unless otherwise noted, for FedEx Express® services. The changes below reflect available information as of January 19, 2009.
Dangerous Goods
- For FedEx Express services, an additional handling surcharge applies for any package that contains dry ice. For FedEx Express U.S. services, and U.S. to and from Puerto Rico services, the surcharge is $5 per package. For FedEx Express U.S. export services, the surcharge is $5 per shipment. If a shipment contains both dry ice and dangerous goods (accessible or inaccessible), only the respective dangerous goods charge is assessed; the dry ice surcharge is not assessed.
FedEx Express assesses a surcharge for both delivery to and pickup from remote and less-accessible locations, and the international extended service area surcharge is eliminated.
International Out-of-Delivery-Area Surcharge
Shipments delivered to remote and less-accessible locations outside the U.S. are assessed an international out-of-delivery-area surcharge.
- For international package services, and FedEx International Priority® Freight and FedEx International Economy® Freight services, the surcharge is the greater of $22 per shipment or $0.22 per lb.
Shipments picked up from remote and less-accessible locations outside the U.S. are assessed an international out-of-pickup-area surcharge.
- For international package services, and FedEx International Priority Freight and FedEx International Economy Freight services (U.S. import-rated shipments only, for all services), the surcharge is the greater of $22 per shipment or $0.22 per lb.
